日本: ((Why I ship Japan/Taiwan)) →

otakukoku:

((Isn’t for their history.

Although, that certain adds more to it. I remember, before I started actually researching it, I thought I wouldn’t ship them historically at all, because I assumed that the Japanese takeover would be nothing but angst. And well…it does have that potential. But not as much as I would have assumed.

In truth, although it certainly wasn’t welcomed, or all rosey and stuff, it really wasn’t that bad. In Taiwan, schools were built, roads, buildings, and the people (other than the natives - sadly) weren’t treated badly. Whereas, in other countries Japan took, books were burned, women were raped, and people were treated second-rate. Or worse.

And that idea was sort of what inspired me for that fic - that sort of image of Japan coming home after this brutality like a casual ‘honey, I’m home!’ but covered in blood. ;~;

Anyways.

But that’s not why I ship them.

I ship them for the present.

Their current relations are extremely good.

I would like to say that no one is more supportive of Taiwan than Japan.

And you might say: ‘What about the US? They are the ones with military support, not Japan.’

And I would say: ‘It’s difficult for Japan to lend military support because of the terms of their current constitution. But: Japan always supports Taiwan sitting in for UN meetings any time they can. The US does not. The US agreed to PRC’s ‘3 no’s’ policy in the late 90’s, Japan refused. One of the only times Japan acting out of it’s alliance with America.

Japan mostly supports the status quo, but so does the majority of Taiwan. Most would not want to bring war with China. However, were that to happen, if you look into it even a little, it’s very clear which side Japan is on. The first security clause involving Taiwan after it was given up by Japan, was basically, in a nut shell ‘don’t let Beijing get it’.

Taiwanese also currently do not require a visa to enter Japan.

And that’s just official stuff. Which is generally colder than how the people actually feel. There are lots of feelings of friendship and mutual bonds between the two.

There’s stuff like

that doesn’t even involve Hetalia.

I mean, I kind of thought it was cute before, but I never even really started shipping this until I roleplayed it but

They more I look into it, the more I love it.

Oh fffffffffff sorry for so much text!

I should stop now. Even though I could write more. 8D Also, it’s late, and I should let Mei get to sleep.))

你好, 你好, 你好~ I'm Taiwan!
Commonly known to humans as Lin Meiling. Or Meiling Lin, for you western folk. Occasionally Ilha Formosa, too! (*^ω^)/

But! You can call me just Mei, or whatever other kind of name you like~ Unless what you like happens to be "the other China" or something stupid like that... ( ̄~ ̄;) If that's the case, please shut your trap. (=^=);

I'm just your average Taiwanese bubbletea-addicted female nation with a tiger. c: But he won't hurt you unless I ask, so don't you worry~ !

幸會! \(o^∇^o)/
